Emin Gün Sirer is a Turkish-American computer scientist, professor of computer science at Cornell University, and the founder and CEO of Ava Labs, the company behind the Avalanche blockchain platform. He is widely regarded as one of the most intellectually rigorous academic voices in the cryptocurrency research space, notable both for foundational pre-Bitcoin work on virtual currency systems and for influential — and at times controversial — cryptanalysis of Bitcoin's security model.
