I read Banksy graffitied walls and wasn't sorry, a fun book that I saw for sale in a museum shop and ended up purchasing on Amazon for far cheaper than in the museum a clever little book explaining about how Banksy graffitied walls and enjoyed to paint rats. Used stencils covering a little bit of the controversy over who Banksy is and why he's anonymous, as well as the general idea and concept of street art. I especially enjoyed the sections about Banksy selling inexpensive painting, which he later put in the shredder, which the book used as an example of how he had conformed to the art world, but not conformed. And then the heartbreaking truth that his girl chasing the balloon was painted on the side of Waterloo Bridge in London and was painted over by the city, truly exemplifying street art, and how something that is so beautiful and enjoyed by so many can be quickly destroyed in the name of progress and uniformity, which is its own debate there, as they said in the past, with the broken window theory, if there's graffiti on a block, there'll be more graffiti, so on and so forth, which is a debate worth having. I enjoyed this quick easy read, and I look forward to reading the other book by the same author about yeves Something, who pays everything blue. I can't wait.
