I listened to the audiobook version of the curse of Lono. And it was fantastic. Sure I'd read the actual book at least two or three times before and always enjoyed the beautiful vibrance of Ralph Steadman gorean, fully colored illustrated drawings, which would rip across the page, interpreting the story in a way that even an excellent audio book really couldn't match. But it was a pleasant companion to hear a Thompson type sound alike recount his fantastic journey to Hawaii, and the Hawaiian marathon, his acquisition of an incredible Hawaiian war club, which he could use to smash coconuts, as well as anyone who opposed him and his eventual transformation into the Hawaiian God Lono and the magnificence that follows, interspersed with wonderful journal entries from Captain Cooks journal, Captain Cook, who was originally believed to be Lono but turned out to be a false prince, a fake god. And you know what happens to fake Gods cook didn't make it out alive. But Thompson did. He covered the Hawaiian marathon and brought back the men fantastic book and audio book kind of but really, you need Stedman, his drawings if you really want justice. That is the curse of Lono
