I read a light in the attic by Shel Silverstein, cover to cover. I had read it in the past when I was a child, probably not, cover to cover, probably more flipping through reading poems here and there, several of the poems seemed familiar to me from childhood, and his delightful cadence continues to be a joy to this day, as well as his wonderful drawings that sometimes perfectly illustrate the poem, and other times the poem wouldn't. Poem would make no sense without the drawing. I bought this version on Amazon because I noticed they'd put a new gold cover on it and included 12 new poems. To my surprise, I enjoyed very much two of the brand new poems, so I'm surprised they were cut and I'm glad that they were added back in. It's a true joy. Shel Silverstein is a complex individual writing poems that seem at first for children, but sometimes have references and far greater meanings to adults as well. He also wrote The Giving Tree, an interesting book that I think about often, and I have some other big one at home called different dances or something like that, just a beautiful book. He also did adult cartoons for Playboy and other things like that. A very, very interesting gentleman. Shel Silverstein, It was a pleasure to spend time with his wonderful poems again. And I do have around here. Where the Sidewalk Ends also extended special edition with 12 new poems, which I hope to make my way through shortly. Thank you for reading.
