Host: So, let's dive right in. DeFi has been a huge story in crypto over the past few years, but it’s also faced some significant challenges. What’s your overall outlook on the future of DeFi?

Alex: I think DeFi is still in its very early innings. It's gone through a couple of cycles, a lot of hype, a lot of innovation, and then some pretty significant setbacks. But I think the underlying thesis of DeFi – the idea of decentralized, permissionless finance – is incredibly powerful and has a lot of staying power.

Alex: There are a few. One is scalability. Ethereum, the dominant platform for DeFi, has struggled with high gas fees and slow transaction speeds. It’s likely that some DeFi protocols will be deemed to be securities, which would subject them to stricter regulation.
